Personal Radon Daughter Monitor (PRDM-0.3L/min)

The RDS Personal Radon Daughter Monitor (PRDM) is a microprocessor based radiation monitoring system that was developed by Radiation Detection Systems (RDS) for the monitoring of the potential alpha energy concentration (PAEC) of radon daughters in outdoor and indoor environments. The PRDM (PRDM-0.3L/min) includes the internal 7.2V 1000mAh NMh battery pack. The fully charged internal battery pack would support about a 13 hour continuous operation of the PRDM.

The PRDM displays and logs the PAEE (Potential Alpha Energy Exposure – µJ.h/m3) of radon daughters and the PAEC (µJ/m3) of radon daughters in 10 min sampling/logging intervals.

The PRDM can also be used for sampling of long-lived alpha activity of airborne dust. After completion of the radon daughter monitoring the filter with long-lived dust is removed from the PRDM and alpha counted after a lapse period of no less than 5 days.
